Lei Yue Mun Outing with Ying Wa College

Our Visual Arts Students went on an excursion to Lei Yue Mun with Ying Wa College. They enjoyed quick sketching and taking beautiful photographs outdoors. The students followed an experienced guide to the lighthouse at Sam Ka Tsuen, the Wishing Tree and Jockey Club Lei Yue Mun Plus. The tour offered a precious chance for them to enhance their knowledge of the local culture and heritage.

BOCHK Rising Star Award Rising Star Athlete 2015-2016

Tsoi Wai Kan of 1D was named the BOCHK Rising Star Athlete 2015-2016. This annual award is presented to outstanding C Grade athletes who have contributed actively to their schools and achieved significant performance in sports. Wai Kan was the captain of our C Grade Basketball Team and a promising basketball player. Congratulations to her and her team!

Shandong Tour 2016

The Civic Education Committee organized an exchange tour with 30 student and 3 teacher participants to Shandong Province from 23th to 27th June. On the itinerary were monuments reflecting the influence of German culture in Qingdao and Confucianism in Shandong Province. Highlights included the Temple of Confucius, the Jiangsu Road Protestant Church, the Tsingtao Beer Factory, etc. and other famous tourist spots such as Daming Lake and Mount Tai. A school visit of the Middle School of Taishan College was also arranged. The trip was designed to enable studentsto compare Hong Kong with Shandong Province and have a better understanding ofthe history of China.

Internal Talent Quest – Ascend

As you recall, the campaign slogan of the Student Association, Canvas, was "Paint the Unexplored". Throughout their term of office, they created opportunities for schoolmates to explore their potential, and one of those promoted talent in singing, dancing and other performances in a fun way.

The Internal Talent Quest, "Ascend", was held at the end of June and in early July for schoolmates to tap their wealth of previously hidden talent. They dressed colourfully and entertained with full confidence and enthusiasm before a live audience of judges, teachers and schoolmates. The objectives of nurturing the intrinsic qualities in schoolmates and removing their stage fright were achieved. It is a remarkable page for the history of the Student Association.

International Youth Exchange Programme 2016

Congratulations to Tina Ko Lok Sun (6B) on her selection as this year's International Youth Exchange Programme delegate! Jointly organized by the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR and the Commission on Youth, the IYEP aims to provide opportunities for outstanding young people to develop into global citizens who will contribute to Hong Kong in return. Originally called Commonwealth Exchange Programme, it was renamed in 1996 when it expanded to include other countries. After a competitive selection interview, youth delegates take part in a two-day training camp in preparation for wider exposure overseas.

Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition 2016

Congratulations to our S4 Debate Team! The debaters, Ruby Ng Ying Tung (4D), Zoe Chan Lok Yu (4A) and Regina Yip Pui Lam (4D), were First Runner-up in the HKSSDC Term 2 Regional Final for Division 1 on May 24. Their achievement is even more impressive because they took up debating only this year. A big thank you is also due to all who contributed their time and effort in the earlier rounds of the competition as chairpersons, timekeepers, helpers and debaters. Well done, everyone!

Swimming Gala 2016

On 13th May 2016, hundreds of Ying Wa Girls, all in high spirits, made their way to the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool, ready for a day full of fun and excitement. Ms Tse opened the event with words of encouragement for all students while Ms Rosalina Lam presented prizes to winners and gave the closing speech, marking the end of another successful and fulfilling Swimming Gala.

Jazz Team Awards

Well done, dancers! The Jazz Team received the ‘Highly Commended Award’ in the 52nd School Dance Festival and the ‘Silver Award’ in the 44th Open Dance Contest recently.

Our school team has participated in many other competitions this year with outstanding results. In the course of these performances and the year-long training, not only have the skills of the dancers improved, but team mates have also developed closer ties and formed unforgettable memories of their time at Ying Wa.
