Achievements in the JSMC 2024
We are pleased to announce the achievements of our music teams in the Joint School Music Competition (JSMC) 2024, organized by the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association. The students have once again demonstrated the power of hard work and dedication, emerging as prize winners at the Joint School Music Competition (JSMC) 2024, organized by the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association.
Results:
Percussion Ensemble – Gold Prize (93 marks)
Orchestra – Silver Prize (88 marks)
Chinese Ensemble – Silver Prize (85 marks)

S2 STEM Day
The S2 STEM Day was a highlight of the Phase 1 activities during the end-of-term period. All S2 students attended a lecture conducted by China Light and Power (CLP) as part of the CLP Engineer-in-School Programme, focusing on Energy Saving and the working life of engineers. Following the lecture, the students were assigned to various STEM activities, including two in-school and three off-site activities.

27th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR (National Flag Hoisting Ceremony)
The National Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held on June 25 to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The theme selected by the Civic Education Committee was "The 2024 Challenges and Opportunities of the HKSAR, PRC," with the objective of fostering students' national identity and enhancing their National Security Education, specifically in the area of economic security. During the ceremony, two Secondary 3 students discussed the economic challenges faced by Hong Kong this year, particularly the impact on the tourism industry. They also highlighted the government's efforts to implement measures for the industry's recovery.

Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2023/24
The Student Association (SA), Solidarite, was recognized with two prestigious honours from the "Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2023/24" organized by Hok Yau Club. The SA was named as the Outstanding Student Association Award, praised for their excellent youth leadership abilities. Additionally, the SA was granted the Award for Values Education, which acknowledged the impactful activities they organised during the school's Thanksgiving Week in November 2023.

Hong Kong Budding Poets Awards 2023/24
Pang Hay Yin Hayley (2C) has won the gold prize in The Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Outstanding Student Poet Awards – Open Section. This prestigious award recognizes students who show exceptional imagination and skill in poetry. Hayley's achievement highlights her remarkable talent and dedication to the art of poetry.

Tea Gathering of Mentorship Programme 2024
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Ying Wa Mentorship Programme, a heartwarming and memorable tea gathering was held on June 22nd at Harbour Plaza North Point. This delightful event was a celebration and it brought both mentors and mentees together to connect and exchange valuable insights. It is hoped that this unique experience will be cherished by both mentors and mentees, inspiring them to further cultivate their bond in the future.

Visual Arts Exhibition 2024
The annual art exhibition called “Day-to-Day (日常)” recently took place at Artland Gallery from June 22 to 27, 2024. The event was organized by the Visual Arts Department and showcased the talent of our students. The opening ceremony was held with Ms Tse Wai Man Cammy, an alumna of YW and the founder of Yugen Art Studio, as our guest of honour. The exhibition focused on the ordinary things we do every day. It aimed to highlight the beauty in the simple moments that we often overlook. More than 60 pieces of artwork, including paintings, digital designs, and ceramics, were on display. The exhibition allowed our students to explore and appreciate the small details of our daily lives, helping us understand their deeper significance.

Hotel Industry Workshop
On June 20, a group of 28 S4 students from the History, Tourism and Hospitality Studies (THS) Departments, along with 2 student leaders from the Civic Education Committee, participated in a workshop at Hotel Alexandra. The objective of the workshop was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the hotel industry, its history, and its significance in the context of national security education, with a focus on economic security.
