Fun Day for Summer Elderly Service 2022
Cooperating with the Western Garden Neighbourhood Elderly Centre and the Youth Club of St. Louis School, our Interact Club held a fun day for the elderly on August 19, 2022. The elderly were engaged in various activities such as bowling, painting and Chinese calligraphy. Singing and dancing were included so that the elderly could immerse themselves in the oldies. Towards the end, they were invited to walk around our campus in the care of our students. Not only did the fun day provide an opportunity for students to interact with the elderly, but students could also be nurtured to be more caring, considerate and confident.

Local Community Service Project in Sham Shui Po
The two Interact Clubs of Ying Wa Girls’ School and Ying Wa College jointly organized a two-day local community service project (深緒情緣) (Aug 14-15) at Sham Shui Po. With the support of Sham Shui Po YWCA, interactors of both schools visited the elderly who live in sub-divided flats and talked to street cleaners in the district. In the evening, they had a homelessness simulation experience where they had to find a place to rest in the park or in the pedestrian tunnel and sold cardboard scraps to earn money. At night, they divided themselves into groups to visit homeless people. Through listening to their stories, students were more aware of the needs of the marginalized group in society.

Teachers, parents, alumnae and friends of Ying Wa enjoyed the spectacular performance by the String Orchestra, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, piano quintet and the percussion ensemble.
