Awards in the Dance World Cup 2019
The Dance World Cup is the leading international dancing event in which thousands of dancers from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. Three Ying Wa girls took part in the event and achieved outstanding results.

Students’ Day 2019
The Students’ Day of Ying Wa is an annual event that brings students together and aims to give students an opportunity to develop their leadership, problem-solving, business skills and creativity. This fun-filled day with lots of eye-opening events and cultural activities could not have been held successfully without the 70th Student Association, Nexus. Having “Odyssey” as the theme, Students’ Day aims to encourage students to accept new ideas and unleash their creativity. The day was brought to a climax when our teachers surprised everyone with their impressive singing and dance performances.
Mentorship Programme 2019 – Tea Gathering
To mark the 15th Anniversary of the Ying Wa Mentorship Programme on 29 June, the 2018-2019 Alumnae Association (AA) Mentorship Programme drew the curtains gracefully with a tea gathering for mentors and mentees at the Silcocks Hall. Through the mentor-mentee connections, mentors shared their professional knowledge and offered advice to students. Mentees could learn more about various job opportunities, pre-requisites and workplace culture, trends and prospects in established professions and start-up industries. The tea gathering was a beautiful fellowship and wonderful sharing. It is hoped that mentors and mentees would continue to treasure this precious experience and their special relationship in the years to come.
S5 Careers Conference 2019
The S5 Careers Conference is one of the major annual events of the Careers Committee. It is designed to give S5 students access to information and advice that will help them plan their tertiary study and career development. The event would not have been successful without the enthusiastic support of young graduates who volunteered to provide useful advice and recent updates, allowing students to have a clear vision of what to strive for in the future.
Heritage Tour to the Greater Bay Area (Zhongshan and Dongguan, China)
34 junior and senior form students took part in a 2-day heritage tour to Zhongshan and Dongguan, China. The trip was organised by the Civic Education Committee and the History Department with the theme on “Food Culture in the Greater Bay Area”. Students attended workshops in cooking traditional dishes in the Greater Bay Area which had great impacts in shaping Hong Kong’s food culture. The activity explored the continuity and interconnectedness of this intangible heritage across the Southern part of China. Not only did students have fun cooking traditional dishes, but they also experienced how rural life was like in Zhongshan.
Visiting Ethnic Minority Women
The Liberal Studies Department and the Global Exposure Committee organized an activity to visit the homes of 8 ethnic minority women. With the facilitation of CEDAR Fund (施達基金會), fifteen S4 students visited and interacted with a total of 8 ethnic minority women’s homes at Hoi Lai Estate on 27 June, 2019. Those women were either of Pakistani or Indian origin. Through casual chatting and interaction, students got to know the reasons why they came to Hong Kong, challenges they faced here and things they appreciated the most in Hong Kong. Not only was this visit an eye-opening experience, but it also allowed students to reflect on how blessed they were being able to grow up in Hong Kong.

After a long journey, Ying Wa has eventually embarked on a new page of its history in mid-March with the “Big Move” from the decanting site of Sham Shui Po back to our home – the Robinson Road Campus.
Our new campus provides state-of-the-art technologies and an ideal spacious learning environment. We will certainly use them to the best advantage. Yet, what we treasure most is not the glamourous campus, but the all-round, Christian education that we provide – nurture the young minds our inherited core values and equip them to transform, to reach new heights and to meet the challenges of the contemporary society.
