Personal Finance Planning Competition 2021 - Champion

5 Secondary Four students of Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (BAFS) won the Champion of the Personal Finance Planning Competition 2021, organized by the School of Business and Department of Economics and Finance of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.  The students submitted a report to explore possible financial traps encountered by adolescents and propose corresponding financial planning possibilities and tips.  Their work was well received by the judges who commented that the proposal would be able to enhance the financial independence and wellness of youngsters.

National Flag Hoisting Ceremony (June 2021)

The National Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held on June 20, 2021 to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the implementation of “one country two systems” under the People’s Republic of China.  Thanks to the Civic Education Committee, the theme of the relationship between the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the Basic Law of the HKSAR was selected to help cultivate students’ sense of national identity and develop deeper understanding towards the importance of upholding the rule of law and the National Security Law.

「中史解碼KOL大募集」初中組亞軍

本校中一甲班學生張雪嵐、彭婉琪及楊凱晴參加了由教育局及香港電子學習教育協會合辦的「中史解碼KOL大募集」短片創作比賽,獲初中組亞軍。該項比賽旨在鼓勵學生以資訊科技結合中國歷史,透過活潑、具創意的短片,介紹中國建築、軍事、娛樂、服飾、飲食等知識,讓學生認識中國歷史及中華文化的不同面貌,並培養學生自學能力。

End of Term Activities 2021

Thanks to the Extra-curricular Activities (ECA) Committee, a wide range of recreational, cultural, leadership training and sports activities were organized for the S1 and S2 on June 30.  These activities ranged from Pastel Nagomi Art, team building, rock climbing to pickleball etc. which facilitated both students’ physical and mental development.  In addition to having lots of fun, students could also adapt to the new school life under COVID-19 easily.  Through various kinds of activities, students could understand one another better, enhancing cooperation and fostering mutual support.

“Law-abidingness” and “Empathy” Poster Design Competition - Merit Prize

Lam Wing Chi (4A) was awarded with a merit prize for the “Law-abidingness” and “Empathy” Poster Design Competition held by the Education Bureau.  Her main design idea is to show empathy to support friends who are stressed in daily life because of examination pressure.  An umbrella is used as a metaphor to represent a shelter while the rain symbolizes uncertainties.  The core value of offering mutual help is well-reflected in the design.

Awards of the Dance Team in 2019 – 2020 & 2020 - 2021

The Ying Wa Dance Team participated in the Dance World Cup Asian Cup 2020 & 2021, the 57th Schools Dance Festival, the 48th Open Dance Contest and the 56th Schools Dance Festival.  Due to the pandemic, all organising parties exercised very careful precautionary measures to minimize the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.  For instance, every competitor had to undergo a compulsory COVID-19 nucleic acid test in advance.

HKICPA Accounting and Business Case Competition 2020-21

Ying Wa girls again shone at the final of the HKICPA Accounting and Business Case Competition 2020-21 held on May 22.  There were a total of 569 teams with 1,860 students from 114 schools participating in the competition.  Students had to submit a written business proposal to analyse business performance and recommend possible strategies to sustain a company’s growth.  Their oral presentation won them the Champion and Best Presenter Awards.

The Exhibition of Look:  The Graphic Language of Henry Steiner

S4 Visual Arts students and teachers attended an exhibition with a guided tour called Look: The Graphic Language of Henry Steiner in the Hong Kong Design Institution Gallery organised by the Hong Kong Design Institute.  Henry Steiner, an Austrian–Jewish by descent began his career in advertising, later became the design director of the Asia Magazine.  Both teachers and students were enthralled by his iconic work.  Besides that, they were very much impressed by Steiner’s creative journey of transforming unique graphic languages into commercial artwork in our daily lives.
