CUHK Jockey Club Children Eye Care Programme
Nineteen S4 - 6 girls volunteered in a meaningful programme on 3 Aug by assisting some children, aged 4 to 6, to take comprehensive eye tests. This CUHK (The Chinese University of Hong Kong) project (2018-21), funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (JC), is a scheme that aims at safeguarding the eye health of all primary school students. Our alumna-eye specialist, Dr Emily WONG, is also a volunteer of the Programme.

Science trip to France
Six S4 students (2018-2019) from the Aerial Photography and Technology Team won the Champion and the Innovative Design Award in the “Social Innovation • Community 4.0 Competition”, which was held by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). The team was offered an opportunity to visit social innovation startups in Paris from 27 July to 3 August. In the tour, the team discussed social and environmental issues in France with leaders of different enterprises. Not only did they observe their operations and facilities, but they also explored an array of pioneering solutions in France. 全國青少年信息學奧林匹克競賽 2019
鄭芷盈同學 (五戊班) 於二零一八年十二月參加香港電腦奧林匹克競賽,獲得初級組金獎,並以優秀表現獲邀加入香港電腦奧林匹克競賽精英訓練隊,接受「解難及編寫程式」培訓,備戰外地賽事。 鄭同學於一九年七月十四日至十九日代表香港前往廣州市第二中學參加全國青少年信息學奧林匹克競賽。 是次活動機會難得,鄭同學及同行的青少年代表可以跟全國選手互相切磋,獲益良多。

Prize Presentation Ceremony & End-of-term Service 2019
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 15 July. Many awards and certificates were given out to students in recognition of their accomplishments in both academic pursuits and other activities throughout the year.
The school term drew to a close on 17 July with the End-of-Term Service held in the morning. Our principal, Mr Kwan Hon-cheung Francis, delivered an invigorating speech on the performance of three distinguished S6 graduates in different aspects. He urged all Ying Wa girls to remain humble at heart when striving for the best and embrace the core values of Ying Wa.

Annual General Meeting of Student Association & Inter-house Committee 2019
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the 70th Student Association (Nexus) and the 28th Inter-house Committee (Syzygy) was held smoothly on 15 July. The new style of presentation, reflecting on the learning process through organising activities and pondering on further improvement, was appealing to both students and teachers. Thanks to the advisors of Nexus and Syzygy, all events were completed successfully. Students indeed enjoyed a very fruitful school year.

Computer App Programming (CAP) Test 2019
Members of the Computer Programming Team competed with hundreds of secondary school students in the CAP Test 2019 on 10 April. Held by the Department of Computing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the contest included an all-rounded and comprehensive problem set, aiming at assessing students’ computational knowledge, logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Among all participating schools, Ying Wa attained the overall second runner-up in school awards, ranking top among girls’ schools in Hong Kong. Lam Hiu Yau (4A) emerged as the champion while Lee Man Yi (4C) won the high distinction award. Lee Cho Man (5D), Cheng Tsz Ying (5E) and Ho Ka Shuen (5C) were also awarded with distinction.

Awards of “Social Innovation. Community 4.0 Competition”
Six S4 students participated in the “Social Innovation. Community 4.0 Competition” held by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). The Ying Wa STEM Team won the Champion and the Innovative Design Award. The team was offered the opportunity to visit social innovation startups in Paris in Summer 2019.

PolyU EIE Robotic Challenge Junior 2019: AI Robot
Three S3 students participated in an AI robotics competition held by the Department of Electronics & Information Engineering Department (EIE) of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong (PolyU) and won First Prize (一等獎). The EIE from PolyU provided workshops for participating students to build their AI robots and learn the mechanism of image recognition. The activity provided an opportunity for students to have better understanding on AI and machine learning. It also enhanced their problem solving skills and stimulated their interest in coding and electronics.
