Overseas Alumnae Newsletter (7th Issue) - The cover story is on the recent achievement of the "Winners of MTR STEM Competition – a study tour to Sweden".  Other interesting articles include travelling across the miles, the latest news of Miss Jenkins, reunion news of the Class of 1958 (F.5), the recent achievement of the Ying Wa Volleyball Team, news from our alumnae from Toronto, Vancouver, Northern California, Southern California, London, Oxford and Sydney etc.

Guidance Programmes for S1 Students

With the aims to assist S1 students to adapt to the secondary school life in Ying Wa and develop closer bonding with their schoolmates, our Guidance Assistants and teachers organised some programmes on 5 October.  Through games and sharing, our S1 ‘new comers’ have become more aware of proper behaviours and attitudes, learning methods as well as different ways to overcome difficulties.  In order to encourage students to set goals for themselves, they were also invited to apply for the Mrs.

S2 Financial Management Workshop

In order to develop the knowledge on financial literacy for our S2 students, a personal financial management workshop under the HSBC Young Financial Planners Programme organized by the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) was held on 5 October 2018.  Through the design and the implementation of business-related games, a few major themes of basic business knowledge, such as risk and return relationship, common financial instruments were introduced to students.  Through learning and playing, students had an enjoyable afternoon with some basic business knowledge which could pave the way for having a better scope of understanding in their subject selection in the future.

Leadership Training Camp 2018 (SA & Inter-house)

The Extra-curricular Activity (ECA) Committee has organised a 3-day leadership training camp at Bradbury Camp, Sai Kung for 19 student leaders of the Student Association and Inter-house Committee.  With the help of the social workers from The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, the leadership training camp enhanced student leaders’ capabilities through adventurous activities, games and debriefing sessions to sharpen their leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.  Participants in this dynamic programme gained a better understanding of themselves and a sense of “mission”.

National Flag Hoisting Ceremony (Sept 2018)

Students and teachers gathered in the School Hall on 26th September 2018 to attend the national flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.  Due to rainy weather, the ceremony was held at School Hall instead of the open playground, as planned originally.  Thanks to the Civic Education Committee, the theme of the 40th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening Policy was selected to help cultivate students’ national identity, develop a deeper understanding towards the Belt and Road Initiative with challenges and difficulties ahead and analyze Hong Kong’s role in the Greater Bay Area.
