Hong Kong Speech Festival 2016

Our students again did Ying Wa proud this year with their praiseworthy performance at the annual Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.  After months of hard work, the Chinese Choral Speaking team, S2B, came second while the English team, S3E, and the Putonghua one, S2E, both came third.  Students had fun picking up important tips on articulation and team work in the process.

Thanksgiving Service 2016

On 28th November 2016, the Thanksgiving Service was held at Ying Wa. We were honoured to have Rev. C.C. Lee, the first female pastor ordained in Hong Kong, as our guest speaker. The occasion was especially meaningful because of Rev. Lee's strong connection with our school. Educated in Ying Wa, she went on to become a teacher in the school before she was promoted as the Vice-principal. Rev. Lee had also been the school chaplain and the school supervisor.

In her sermon, Rev. Lee talked fondly about how she was inspired to dedicate her life to serving others during her time at Ying Wa. She also encouraged students to always have a thankful heart and be grateful for both the good and bad times in their life.

Walk for Ying Wa

The annual Sponsored Walk has been a much cherished tradition of Ying Wa since the 1960s. It is a time dedicated to living healthily and sharing our blessings with the society at large. True to the lyrics of our school song, ‘身遠心莫離’, i.e., even when far away, our hearts remain with Ying Wa, Miss Yau Ping Wai, a beloved teacher to many and former colleague, came all the way from Toronto to join the walk to the peak with her classmates (including Ms Lam Lai Bing, Ms Siu Yau Miu and her husband). Undeterred by inclement weather on their walk down memory lane, their initiative amazingly raised HK$273K, a feat worth celebrating.
