「寫作+」計劃文學創作坊2022-2023
英華女學校與香港教育大學文學及文化學系合辦「寫作+」計劃文學創作坊。此計劃邀請作家葉曉文女士擔任導師,指導學生進行散文及小說創作。葉女士是畫家及作家,擅長自然生態書寫,曾獲青年文學獎公開組冠軍。出版著作包括《尋花》、《尋花2》、《尋牠》、《尋牠2》及《隱山之人in situ》等。
本課程共有五節,共22位中二至中五學生參加。學生於工作坊中透過實地考察,閱讀一系列文本,並進行寫作活動,以體驗文學創作的樂趣。學生完成課程後遞交小說創作,作品獲導師回饋,獲益良多。相關作品將有機會刊登於校內文藝刊物。

In Loving Memory of Mrs Che Leung Ching Yee
It is with great sadness that we inform the passing of Mrs Che Leung Ching Yee (車梁靜儀老師) on October 13, 2022.
Mrs Che first joined Ying Wa as a young teacher in 1975. She left for other aspirations in her career and returned to serve Ying Wa from 1993 until 2015.
Mrs Che contributed immensely not only as a teacher in English, Language Arts and Geography in the junior forms, but also as a dedicated and efficient head of the School’s Discipline Committee and Life Education Committee.

Experience Sharing on Mrs Katherine Chau Scholarship
The Guidance Committee put on a short drama to promote the Mrs Katherine Chau Scholarship in the morning assembly on Oct 19. The scholarship aims to encourage students to set their own goals on either academic or non-academic areas. Three students shared their experiences on painting, computer programming and skateboarding when they applied for the scholarship in the last academic year. The drama was encouraging and it motivated students to make plans for the year ahead.

Sharing by Rudaba Rubaiyath in LS lessons
The Liberal Studies (LS) Department invited alumna Rudaba Rubaiyath to share with three S6 classes on October 19 and 20, 2022. Born in Bangladesh, Rudaba moved to Hong Kong at a young age. Upon graduating from Ying Wa, she is now studying medicine at the University of Hong Kong. Rudaba explained the opportunities and challenges she had faced as a third culture kid. Third culture kids are people who are raised in a culture different from that of their parents’ and who have lived in a different environment during significant part of their child development years. Awards of Korea Forum 2022
Jointly organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Korean Cultural Center and the School of Modern Languages & Cultures of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Korea Forum 2022 was held on October 15, 2022 at HKU. Four of our girls participated in the Grand Final and presented their research findings on Korea’s development. Lau Hok Yau (5D) and Cheng Sze Wai (5E) were awarded the Champion in the Senior Secondary session, and Khoo Chanelle (3A) and Kung Yat Tung Denise (3C) were awarded the Second Runner-up in the Junior Secondary session.

Cultural Exchange Programme with Ying Wa College and Shanghai
In order to cultivate strong national identity and motivate students to engage in exchange programmes, our girls and students from Ying Wa College (YWC) participated in a cultural exchange programme with No.1 High School Affiliated to Tongji University, Shanghai on October 15. Coordinated by YWC, the programme was held successfully. Students were divided into groups to share interesting topics such as the backgrounds of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Shanghai, food and festivals enjoyed by people from both Hong Kong and Shanghai. Our students got a chance to brush up on their Putonghua in an authentic situation. Talk by Ms Vivian Ip
The Music Department invited Ms Vivian Ip (葉詠媛), a YW alumna, to deliver a talk in the morning assembly on Oct 12 with the theme of ‘My Career as a Musician’. Vivian shared her secondary school life and the experiences that shaped her to be the musician she is today. She also shared with students the skills she learnt when she was in different positions in school. Vivian currently teaches Conducting and Practical Studies in Musicianship and Choral Conducting at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has been invited as a guest conductor of the Hong Kong Oratorio Society. Also, she is currently the music director of Chorus Delicti Wien.
